-
Onychomycosis- Fungal Infection Fungal spores are a type of reproductive structure. They have a tough and durable exterior which allows them to lie dormant until the environment is such that it is suitable for them to grow and reproduce. It is seen as a yellow colour on the nail.
-
Paronychia - Bacterial Infection This is seen as green, brown or black in the nail and is caused by a number of bacterial cells reproducing and it is fed by the natural oil present in the nail. It is an acute yeast infection and is usually seen on people who continually have their hands in hot water, it produces redness, swelling and pain.
-
Onycholysis - Nail Separation This is where the nail plate becomes separated from the nail bed. It can be caused by having overlong nails, trauma or an allergic reaction. If slight, you may still have nail enhancements but these should be worn short.
-
Psoriasis - Characteristics are painful itching overgrowth of skin cells. Nails can also be affected and become severely pitted and be accompanied by Onycholysis. This may be a hereditary condition and is not contagious. Nails should be kept at a short and sensible length.
-
Tinea Unguium - Ringworm This is highly contagious and caused by a vegetable parasite which invades the free edge and spreads down towards the cuticle.
-
Onychophagia - Severe nail-biting This habit is responsible for a vast number of nail deformities and is usually accompanied by biting of the skin surrounding it. It can lead to nails and skin becoming infected by the disease.
Aftercare
-
Allow yourself a few days to become accustomed to your new nails. You may find it difficult doing up buttons, opening car doors, picking up coins from the floor etc for the first few days but eventually, you will get into the habit of using your hands in a different way and your nails will start feeling more natural.
-
Have regular maintenance services. They are required every 2-3 weeks, depending on the nail growth. These services will return your nails to the pristine condition they were in, looking healthy and beautiful. Leaving more than the recommended time will result in breakages and lifting of the nail enhancements which may cause problems to the natural nails.
-
Repetitive or severe pressure on nail enhancements will lead to cracks that result in full-blown breaks. Treat your nails as JEWELS NOT TOOLS.
-
Do not bite, pick or file your enhancements. This can cause them to lift, become weak and break, and possibly cause damage and thinning to your natural nails.
-
If the nail enhancements appear to be lifting from the nail plate, contact me and make arrangements for a revisit as soon as possible to prevent bacterial infections. Do not be tempted to pull off the lifted part as this will cause nail distress and weaken your natural nail.
-
Do not be tempted to do any home repairs. If a nail tip breaks, do not try to glue it on again as you might trap air between the tip and the natural nail which can lead to bacterial infections. Also, never glue down lifted product. Without proper sanitation, moisture can become trapped and provide the perfect breeding ground for bacteria.
-
Please note Acrylic repairs are chargeable at £4 per nail
-
Suntan creams, tinted lotions and coloured hair products can all dis-colour your nail enhancements. To protect your nails from becoming dis-coloured, wash your hands thoroughly or wear gloves.
-
Always wear rubber gloves when performing normal household tasks such as washing up, using cleaning products especially bleach, and gardening as the chemicals found in these cleaning and gardening products can affect your nail enhancements and may result being harmful to your natural nails and also to the skin of your hands.
-
If removing nail polish, always use an Acetone Free nail polish remover. Acetone causes nail enhancements to weaken.
-
If applying nail polish, always apply a base coat prior to applying nail polish to prevent the nail enhancements from yellowing and finish off with a UV shield topcoat to protect the nail polish from chipping and peeling.
-
DO NOT push back the cuticles as this will enhance the gap between the natural nails and the nail enhancements and maintenance will be required more frequently.
-
Apply and cuticle oil daily before bed to maintain the enhancements flexibility and durability, strengthen the natural nails, and to keep the cuticles soft. Also, it keeps the natural nails from getting dehydrated thus preventing the natural nails curling away from the enhancements.
-
Invest in a good hand cream to keep the skin of your hands looking young, and feeling soft and smooth.
-
MOST IMPORTANT, do not try to remove the nail enhancements yourself as you will cause severe damage to your natural nails. ALWAYS have them professionally removed.

WHILE YOUR SKIN HEALS, BE PREPARED FOR THE COLOUR INTENSITY OF YOUR PROCEDURE TO BE SSIGNIFICANTLY LARGER, SHARPER, BRIGHTER & DARKER than what is expected for the final outcome. This is a normal and expected results of the application and healing process. The healing process will take a number of days to complete, depending on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates and new skin regrows to take its place.
-
Colour will appear darker and bolder after the procedure. Your colour will oxidise and darken over the first few days. The colour CAN and WILL fade/soften anywhere from 10% - 50% or more.
-
The area may appear uneven, dry, itchy, tender, red& irritated. This is all 100% normal. DO NOT PICK. These symptoms will dissipate each day and vary on an individual basis.
-
Picking can lift colour and pigment from the treated area resulting in unevenness and blank spots. let the brows flake off naturally.
-
Your brows may not exfoliate evenly. Please do not pick at the scabs. During the exfoliation process, your colour may look weak, orangey, pinkish or grey. This will not be your final result. It takes a full 6 weeks or more for your true colour to the surface. Please be patient and wait until you are fully healed before you critique your eyebrows. Any refinements can be addressed at a follow-up visit.
-
Healing is specific to each client. It is important to realise that you will need a colour boost every 2 years to maintain its fresh natural appearance. Fading WILL happen after each procedure. We do not have control over your bodies healing process.
-
Everyone’s genetics, physiological makeup and lifestyle will affect the treatment in various unique ways. You may need still to powder and/or pencil your eyebrows even after the healed results. This is an enhancement to your natural eyebrows....not a permanent one.
-
If you are out in the sun a lot, have oily skin, use anti-ageing creams, Retin-A/retinol products, acidic cleansers, natural elements, regular chemicals peels, or exercise frequently, your permanent makeup WILL fade prematurely. The better you take care of the treated area and follow the provided aftercare, the longer it will last.
-
Remember, that no two sides of the face are the same or perfectly symmetrical. While trying to obtain perfect symmetry is our goal note that nothing is perfect.
-
When you leave the studio your shaded eyebrows and/or your hair strokes are intact. Remember your technician will do their best to help you heal properly but the lifestyle, genetics, age, and certain environmental factors can/will contribute to the retention of your eyebrows.
-
It is very common to have areas fade more so than others. This is part of the healing process and it may be treated at the recommended touch up appointment. Previously done eyebrows may take 1-3 treatments to achieve the desired results. Scar tissue in the brow area of eyebrows done multiple times WILL require additional procedures and fees will apply.
-
If you decide to change your mind and switch to a have powder-filled/ombre/shaded eyebrow procedure after your first hair stroke/microblading procedure and do not want to do hair strokes for your follow up appointment, you will be charged accordingly for the change of service. You will/may also be charged a "set-up" fee for your 3rd follow up because the service performed has been changed.
-
Follow up visits should be done within 6-8 weeks after your initial treatment. For oily skin, it may be necessary to perform more corrections. Any additional touch-ups are charged accordingly. WE DO NOT DO FREE TOUCH UPS after your follow up free touch up visit but will price accordingly to your individual needs.
-
During the procedure despite the staff expertise and all the precautionary measures, injury is possible. Despite the application of the most advanced and the top quality pigments, an allergic reaction is possible but rare.
-
During and after the procedure temporary swelling, redness and/or itching may occur.
-
Depending on the skin structure after the first treatment small scabs with loss of drawn hairs may occur and colour intensity may change.
-
The Pigments absorb differently due to differences in the skin quality, thus there is no warranty for the treatment success.
-
The shape is determined according to the face.
-
Depending on the skin structure it should be noted that change in the colour intensity is possible and that one or more additional treatments will be required.
-
Permanent makeup always leads to skin injury. Therefore, it is important to carefully and gently nurture your skin injury. Therefore, it is important to carefully and gently nurture your skin after the treatment to allow healing without complications. Inadequate care in the healing phase of the skin can lead to poor results, the technician cannot be liable for it.
-
Permanent makeup is an art NOT science. All clients results will vary. The use of makeup such as a brow pencil or powder may still be needed. This is not a "no maintenance" treatment but a "low maintenance" one.
In the next 10 days the client is required to pay attention to the following:
-
Keep your eyebrows dry and clean for the next 10 days
-
Do not get in contact with water. The thick crust will appear in case you will and all the pigment will fade
-
Do not touch the scab in any other case except while cleaning
-
For post-treatment care use only recommended liquid to clean the brows (sterile water the first day only)
-
If the skin is oily or sweaty make sure you clean the skin when necessary (witch hazel if necessary)
-
Please do not use any other creams except the ones provided or recommended to you in order to prevent possible infections or allergic reactions
-
In the first two weeks after the treatment avoids swimming pools, sunbathing, tanning beds (no sun or tanning for 30 days), sauna, beauty treatments and intense training accompanied by sweating (sports activities), contact with dirt and dust.
Please note:
If you have gone through chemotherapy in the past this will affect the overall outcome of the treatment and aftercare. This is due to your skin texture being different after the treatment you have had. This will affect how long your microblading treatment will hold the pigments. You will most likely loose about 60% of the colour like young, oily skin. For best results, we would advise you to go for powder brows.
